Great Divide Basin Wyoming are some of the strongest and wildest of horses, their senses are strong, and spending time with them in any distance close enough for photos is a gift beyond measure.  It takes a lot of effort, time and patience for them to accept your presence, they move like the wind and vanish like dust in this area.  Of all my travels and times within various herds, these are the truest of wildness.  This young mother and her foal were leary at first, their patience and mine paid of in the end.  They enjoyed a nice long drink while I enjoyed watching this foals playfulness and curiosity for a moment in time, once the stallion joined, he took his drink and into the distance they soon were.

Sadly, three round ups have occurred in this vast area that covers over 800 thousand acres since this image was captured.  It is hard for me to believe they are still wild, which makes these moments that much more valuable to me.  These precious innocent beings are strong and mighty, surviving the harshest of conditions mother nature has to offer.  However, escaping the hands of man and a greedy agenda is something they have no way out of...except with our voices.
